Cottonwood

Foraging and Wildcrafting Plant Class

Learn about the physical, emotional and spiritual healing properties of the PNW native Black Cottonwood tree (aka Balsam Poplar). Forage a personal amount of Cottonwood buds and learn how to wildcraft oil and a salve.

Cottonwood buds have a resin that contains salicin, the active ingredient in aspirin, which is a pain reliever for rheumatoid arthritis and an anti-inflammatory for joints. Spiritually, Cottonwood oil and salve is called Balm of Gilead and soothes conflict with others. The sweet smell instantly invokes visions of sunny summer days by the river with white cotton flecks floating by. Golden sunshine in the dark cold winter. You can’t help but smile.
